Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc Donates Relief Materials To Victims of Attack on Okomu Community

IN pursuit of its commitment to support members of its neighbouring communities, management of Okomu Oil Palm Company PLC has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of the viscous attacks on Okomu community, which led to the destruction of the Edo State Security Network base in Okomu Community, burning of about 30 houses, vehicles, solar power facilities and some indigenes sustaining various degrees of Injuries.

Presenting the relief materials which include beans, bags of garri, cartons of noodles as well as cartons of Okomu Red Oil. The company’s communication officer, Fidelis Olise said the gesture was borne out of management’s commitment to assist members of the community affected by the recent attack on the community by militants who claim to be be Ijaw Freedom Fighters.

Mr. Fidelis Olise said although the company was affected by the violence with the killing of three (3) of its workers, they were moved on knowing that members of the community were displaced from their homes due to the crisis.

He was quick to draw the people’s attention to the importance of peace in any environment as it is the springboard for development while reiterating the company’s commitment to continue to contribute its quota to the development of its neighbouring communities.

Receiving the relief material, councillor representing Siluko ward, Hon. Bekewei Seifiyebogha who appreciated management of Okomu for the gesture said the items will be distributed judiciously to the displaced persons.

Hon. Seifiyebogha also appreciated management of the palm oil company for its efforts in attracting development to communities in the area with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects which is the only source of social amenities in some of the communities within the precinct of the company

Also, a leader in the community, Hon. Atele Edonghan Friday while appreciating the management of Okomu oil palm company PLC for the efforts in alleviating the plight of victims of the attack called for other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the laudable gestures from the palm oil company.

Some of the women displaced by the crisis including Evelyn Yoroki and Endurance Yanki appreciated Okomu for the food items stressing that this will go along way in alleviating the plight of the people.
