YOBE State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has been commended by residents for Yobe State Emergency Management Agency’s (YOSEMA’s) outstanding performance in search and rescue operations in Maiduguri, Borno State following massive floods as the Alau Dam broke its banks.
The residents who are victims of the flood disaster commended the Governor for the outstanding performance of the Yobe Emergency Management Agency working with the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, and Borno State Emergency Management Agency in the search and rescue operations.
While reacting to the commendation, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Goje said humanitarian work has no boundaries, Yobe and Borno are like siamese twins, whatever happens to one it has happened to all.
He said that it is in solidarity with the people of Maiduguri that, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency swiftly mobilized support to assist in the response and evacuation efforts.
He said that among the resources being dispatched is an Electric Boat and Life Jackets, which will aid in rescue operations and the safe transportation of people stranded by the rising floodwaters.
Goje assured that the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency YOSEMA stands ready to continue offering support as needed and remain committed to collaborating with Borno State Emergency Management Agency and National Emergency Management Agency NEMA in these challenging times.
The Executive Secretary extends its deepest sympathies to the Borno State Government and the people of Maiduguri in the wake of the devastating flood disaster. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the affected families and communities during this difficult time”.
