THE Director General of Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs) Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, was in Verona, Italy, to hobnob and collaborate on her agency’s renewed strategies with Edo residents in the south-west European nation, on a drive to bring rapid development to the state, as well as to promote the lots of Edo indigenes living there.
In what has become a general expression for proactiveness, ‘hit the ground running”, Dr. Ogboro-Okor, who was appointed into the office, recently, by the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had swung into action, with earlier visits to Rome and other cities in the country and in Europe, to interact with Edo people.
The cluster-events, which were colourful and well-attended, have brought together Edo people and their friends, featuring interactive talks on meaningful and rapid development of Edo, particularly to increase diaspora remittances and investment ti the state, while the welfare of its diaspora indigenes, were also tabled.
At the meetings, Dr Ogboro-Okor expressed practical moves by the state government to build a bridge between Edo people in the diasporas and those at home, through laudable programmes and activities of mutual benefits, that will guarantee qualitative life for the Edo people in their diasporas and at home.
The woman Director General of the Agency, also use the opportunity to inform the Italian diasporans on relentless efforts by the Governor Okpebholo’s government to evolve people-oriented projects such as rapid infrastructure development, policy reforms and concerted fights against criminality, in the bid to make the state safe.
Dr. Ogboro-Okor was accompanied on the visits by some members of her Diaspora Team and Prince Kelly Udebhulu, a former director of Communication and National Orientation sub-committee of the 2024 Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council, in the visitation exercise that will also hold in other countries of Europe, America, Asia and other continents.
