The Enugu State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking after arresting a suspected transnational trafficker, 30-year-old Raymond Sunday Wonna, and rescuing two young girls from Cross River State — 18-year-old Miracle Ogar and 16-year-old Angela Kingsley.
According to police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, the teenagers were intercepted on July 30, 2025, along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway during a routine patrol by the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad. Investigations revealed they were being taken to Ghana under the false promise of restaurant jobs. Shockingly, the suspect allegedly attempted to assault them while lodging them in a hotel, pending their departure.
The girls, who were lured without their parents’ consent, have since been reunited with their families. Meanwhile, police are intensifying efforts to dismantle the wider trafficking network. CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa praised the operatives for their swift action and assured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to crushing human trafficking.
Authorities are urging citizens to stay alert and report suspicious movements through emergency lines 08032003702, 08086671202, or the toll-free number 112. 🚨
