Peter Obi, former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State, has urged his supporters to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming by-elections.
Obi explained that the LP has no candidates officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to an ongoing internal crisis. Speaking on X on Thursday, he called on his supporters to rally behind the coalition party instead.
He wrote, “On the 16th of August 2025, Nigerians will go to the polling units again for the by-elections. This will take place across 16 states, with 2 senatorial, 5 federal House of Representatives, and 9 state assembly seats up for grabs. The Labour Party has no candidates recognised by INEC due to the internal crisis. I humbly urge every member of the Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states. The struggle for Nigeria has started.”
Obi’s call reflects an effort to maintain political momentum for his supporters, ensuring that their influence in the by-elections is not diminished despite the challenges facing the Labour Party.
