President Tinubu Appoints Rotimi Pedro as New NTA Director-General

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a fresh leadership team for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), with veteran media executive Rotimi Richard Pedro taking the helm as Director-General.

A senior NTA official confirmed the appointments to Vanguard, highlighting other key positions: Karimah Bello as Executive Director of Marketing, Stella Din as Executive Director of News, and Sophia Essahmed as Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited.

Pedro, a Lagos-born media entrepreneur, brings nearly three decades of experience in broadcasting, sports rights, and marketing communications across Africa, the UK, and the Middle East. Trained as an entertainment and intellectual property lawyer, he also holds an MSc in Investment Management & Finance from City University Business School, London.

In 1995, Pedro founded Optima Sports Management International (OSMI), which has grown into one of Africa’s top sports content providers. His company distributes major events like the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and CAF competitions to audiences in over 40 countries.

Over the years, Pedro has held leadership roles at Bloomberg Television Africa, Rapid Blue Format, and provided consultancy for FIFA, UEFA, Fremantle Media, and the African Union of Broadcasters (AUB). Notably, he played a key role in helping the AUB secure exclusive pan-African free-to-air media rights for all CAF competitions.

With his extensive experience and industry network, Pedro’s appointment signals a new chapter for NTA, promising innovation and stronger engagement with audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
