Wike to Amaechi: “Your 2027 Presidential Ambition Don Die Before E Start”

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has thrown heavy jabs at his longtime rival, Rotimi Amaechi, declaring that the former Minister of Transportation’s 2027 presidential dream is “dead on arrival.”

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV, Wike didn’t mince words, stressing that Amaechi would be the last person the ruling party would ever consider for its presidential ticket. He pointed to Amaechi’s past political defeats, mocking his claim that he could defeat President Bola Tinubu if given the chance.

“The last person they will give a ticket to is Amaechi. That ambition is dead on arrival. In 2014 and 2015, when he was governor, we defeated him. In 2019, as DG of Buhari’s campaign, we still defeated him. In 2023, when he supported another candidate, he lost again. So where is the capacity?” Wike asked.

Wike also weighed in on former SGF, Babachir Lawal’s criticism of President Tinubu. He revealed that Lawal visited him in Port Harcourt shortly after Tinubu unveiled his running mate, angry that he was not picked as vice president.

“What was his anger? His anger was that he thought Mr. President would choose him as VP. When that didn’t happen, he began to fight. That’s the truth,” Wike said.

On Aminu Tambuwal, Wike advised the former Sokoto governor to face the EFCC squarely and clear his name, instead of trying to politicize his recent invitation by the anti-graft agency.
