President Bola Tinubu has landed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), California, as part of his journey to Brazil for a two-day state visit.
The presidential jet, NAF-001, popularly called Eagle One, touched down on Friday, marking a key stopover on his diplomatic tour. Tinubu had earlier departed Abuja on August 14, making brief stops in Dubai before heading to Japan, where he participated in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama.
During the Japan leg, the President joined other African leaders for high-level discussions, held bilateral meetings with world leaders, and met executives of Japanese companies investing in Nigeria. The sessions centered on deepening Africa-Asia partnerships and exploring new investment opportunities.
Now heading to Brasília at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Tinubu is expected to spend August 24–25 in Brazil. His itinerary includes a presidential meeting with Lula and a Nigeria-Brazil business forum, where both nations will explore cooperation in trade, cultural exchange, and bilateral investment.
According to his media adviser, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s delegation—which includes ministers and senior officials—will also be signing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.
From Japan to Brazil, the administration is framing this tour as a push to open Nigeria further to global investment while also showcasing the country’s cultural and economic potential on the international stage.
