Tension has overtaken Ndanaku community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State after a wave of violent bandit attacks forced villagers to flee, leaving behind an abandoned settlement. Homes, shops, and streets now lie empty, painting a picture of fear and helplessness.
A chilling video shared by Nupekotv shows the deserted community, while reports confirm that three villagers were abducted. The kidnappers are said to be demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for their release. Local leaders have since cried out to both the Kwara State Government and federal authorities for urgent intervention.
In a heartfelt letter titled “Continued Deterioration of Security Situation in Ndanaku Community,” residents described how the village has been under siege by bandits for over two weeks. The letter narrated that beyond abductions, the attackers have also resorted to looting shops, rustling livestock, and destroying farmlands since most villagers have fled.
Despite repeated appeals to the Patigi Local Government Chairman for military deployment, residents say no concrete action has been taken. Soldiers stationed in the LGA capital were reportedly willing to respond but have not been given the directive. The community’s Elites Association, led by Gideon Zhiri, stressed the need for quick intervention so families can safely return home.
The crisis in Ndanaku mirrors the growing insecurity in Kwara North. Recently, SaharaReporters confirmed the death of Abdullahi Tsowa, a man abducted from Esun Tauheed in Lafiagi Emirate during a bandit raid. He was reportedly killed after a failed attempt to escape, while two others survived with injuries.
Neighbouring villages such as Lataworo and Gbugbu have also come under similar attacks, leaving many communities in fear and displacement. For locals, the situation has become not just a security threat but also a humanitarian disaster, as livelihoods and farmlands are destroyed with no assurance of safety.
