Shock in Telangana: Man Arrested for Brutal M*rder of His 5-Month Pregnant Wife

A 27-year-old man, identified as Samala Mahender Reddy, has been arrested in Telangana, India, for the gruesome murder of his pregnant wife, B. Swathi. The cab driver allegedly strangled his five-month pregnant wife, dismembered her body, and dumped the remains into the Musi River.

The tragic incident happened in Boduppal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Reports revealed that Mahender and Swathi married in January 2024 despite family disapproval, but their union was plagued by quarrels and alleged dowry harassment. Swathi had even filed a complaint in April 2024, leading to a police case under the Dowry Prohibition Act. However, after pressure from elders, the couple reconciled — but tensions never ended.

According to police, Mahender pre-planned the act by purchasing a hacksaw and hiding it at home. After returning from work on Saturday, he strangled Swathi and later sent a deceptive text from her phone to her mother, claiming they had dinner together. He then dismembered her body and made multiple trips to dispose of the remains in the river.

Suspicion grew when Mahender called his sister to claim Swathi was missing. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime, and police recovered only her torso from their residence. Search operations for the remaining body parts were hampered by deep waters and strong currents.

Authorities revealed that Swathi had previously suffered an abortion but conceived again in March 2025. Her plans to visit her parents for a medical check-up reportedly triggered a heated argument, which Mahender used as a cover for his shocking crime. Police, however, believe deeper issues — including jealousy and control — were behind the murder.
