Teenagers Arrested For Kidnapping Three Minors In Kaduna And Demanding N50m Ransom From Their Father

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested three teenagers linked to the shocking abduction of three young siblings in Kaduna North. The children, all under 14, were taken from their home on Calabar Road, Sabon Layi, on August 25, sparking fear and panic in the neighborhood.

According to police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, the children — 14-year-old Aslam Umar Lukman, 12-year-old Suleiman Umar Tanko, and 10-year-old Aliyu Umar Tanko — were kidnapped in broad daylight, with the abductors demanding a staggering ₦50 million ransom. Their distraught father quickly reported the incident, prompting the police to swing into action.

Hassan revealed that through intelligence gathering and tactical communication, operatives were able to lure out the suspected mastermind, 18-year-old Richard Philip. Upon his arrest, Philip confessed and disclosed that he conspired with two others — Ibrahim Ma’aruf, also 18, and 15-year-old Abubakar Sadiq — to carry out the crime. Shockingly, the children were kept hidden inside Philip’s own residence.

Acting swiftly on this information, police officers stormed the location, arrested the accomplices, and successfully rescued the three children without harm. The reunion between the children and their parents, facilitated by the Commissioner of Police, was described as an emotional and heartwarming moment.

The Kaduna police assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property while warning that anyone involved in such heinous crimes — regardless of age — will face the full weight of the law.
