Jonathan Opens Up on 2015 Betrayal, Says True Friends Are Rare in Politics

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that he suffered betrayal during his 2015 re-election bid. He made the revelation in Benin, Edo State, at the 70th birthday celebration of his long-time ally, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe.

Speaking at the event, Jonathan praised Oghiadomhe as one of the few people who have remained loyal to him through thick and thin. He stressed that Nigerian politics is deeply rooted in betrayal, recalling how several allies turned their backs on him during the 2015 elections.

“In Nigerian politics, betrayal is the order of the day,” Jonathan lamented. “I witnessed a lot of it in 2015. It’s rare to find someone who says the same thing in the morning, afternoon, and evening.”

It would be recalled that Oghiadomhe once served as Jonathan’s Chief of Staff between 2010 and 2014, playing a key role in his administration. His loyalty has now earned him special praise from the former president.

Meanwhile, speculations have been swirling about Jonathan’s possible return in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Though widely discussed in political circles, the former president has not officially confirmed if he intends to contest.
