Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has shared a heartfelt message to single women, reminding them that society’s glorification of marriage should not define their worth.
The OAP and businesswoman, who recently welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Yakira Eliana at 40, described this new chapter as the happiest moment of her life. She said her daughter has brought her a kind of love she never knew existed.
In her post, Toke reflected on how society often measures women’s success by marriage and childbearing, regardless of career or personal achievements. “Funny how no matter how much you rise career-wise as a woman, society still glorifies the things that haven’t happened for you yet,” she wrote, stressing that marriage and motherhood should not be used as yardsticks for fulfilment.
She encouraged women not to settle out of fear or pressure, but to trust God’s timing, saying her own journey became perfect when she embraced patience. Toke admitted to battling fear and negativity during her pregnancy but found strength in faith, quoting the words, “Perfect love drowns out fear.”
Her message to women was simple but powerful: block out the noise, celebrate yourself at every stage, and trust that everything good will come at the right time.
