Troops Neutralise Eight ISWAP Fighters in Borno, Recover Motorcycles

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have killed eight members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a successful ambush near Garin Giwa along the Baga–Cross Kauwa axis in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources confirmed on Monday that the encounter, which took place in the early hours of September 15, 2025, led to the neutralisation of key terrorist figures, including Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota. Several others sustained gunshot wounds and fled on foot.

During the operation, troops recovered 14 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing insurgents, further weakening their mobility and logistics in the area. The location of the clash lies in Northern Borno Senatorial District, about 180 km from Maiduguri, the state capital.

“The theatre command remains resolute in its determination to rid the North East of terrorism and restore peace to all affected communities,” a military source said, noting that the high command has commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to sustain the tempo.
