Shock in Abuja as Kidnappers Kill Veterinary Doctor, Abduct His Three Children

ABUJA — Tragedy struck the Federal Capital Territory on Friday night when suspected kidnappers invaded the Kubwa residence of a veterinary doctor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, killing him and abducting his three children.

Dr. Ogbu, a respected veterinarian and immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, was taken away along with his children during the late-night attack along the Kubwa–Kaduna road. His lifeless body was later found dumped by the roadside.

The news of his death was confirmed by his colleague, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, who shared the heartbreaking update on Facebook. “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead. The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene,” he wrote.

The killing has thrown the veterinary community into mourning, with many describing Ogbu as a humble, dedicated, and selfless professional who contributed immensely to animal health and welfare in Abuja.

“He was more than a colleague; he was a mentor and a friend,” one of his associates told reporters in tears. “This is not just a loss to his family but to the entire profession.”

Dr. Ogbu leaves behind a nursing wife, extended family, and colleagues who are still in shock over the cruel turn of events. His abducted children remain in captivity as security agencies continue efforts to rescue them.

The attack adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity within the FCT suburbs, where residents have repeatedly raised alarm over frequent cases of kidnapping and armed robbery.

As of press time, neither the police nor the NVMA had issued an official statement on the tragic incident.
