Princess Demands Baba Ijesha’s Name Be Added to Lagos Sex Offenders Register After Release

Nigerian comedienne and actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has called on the Lagos State Government and the Department of Justice to immediately include the name of actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, also known as Baba Ijesha, in the state’s sex offenders register following his release from prison.

Princess made the appeal during a live Instagram session on Saturday, November 15, 2025, saying she expects timely action from the authorities.
“I want to urge Lagos State Government, the Department of Justice, to please publish his name in the sex offenders register,” she said. “I will be waiting for an update.”

Clarifies That Baba Ijesha Was Not Pardoned

Responding to claims circulating online, Princess emphasised that Baba Ijesha completed his prison term and was not pardoned.
“No matter how much it hurt me, I have not hoarded any information,” she said. “Baba Ijesha is now a convict… nobody freed him.”

She added that she was relieved that schools, landlords, hostels, and the wider public are fully aware of his criminal record.

Advocacy Ahead of the Live Stream

Earlier on Saturday, Princess posted a video in a caricature style, using humour to highlight the seriousness of child abuse.
In the clip, she stated:
“Hi, my name is Princess, and I believe that children should be loved, protected, and provided for. If you know any child who has been abused mentally, physically, or sexually, please DM me at Princess Damilola Foundation on Instagram. Thank you, we need to look out for ourselves.”

Background to the Release

Baba Ijesha was reportedly released following a Court of Appeal ruling that overturned his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. His release was first announced on Friday by actor Yomi Fabiyi, who shared a post celebrating the development, writing:
“You are now officially FREE AND OUT… Baba Ijesha is not just back but BETTER.”

An unverified video that surfaced online on Saturday also showed the actor sitting in a vehicle shortly after his release, expressing exhaustion and saying he needed rest.

Case Timeline

Baba Ijesha was accused by Princess of sexually abusing her 14-year-old foster daughter. CCTV footage installed in Princess’s home allegedly captured him touching and fondling the minor.

In July 2022, a Lagos court sentenced him to 16 years in prison after finding him guilty on multiple counts, including indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

Efforts to obtain comments from Baba Ijesha and Yomi Fabiyi were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. Attempts to reach Princess directly also proved unsuccessful, as her phone was switched off.
