BREAKING: Bandits abduct 25 schoolgirls, kill Vice Principal in deadly attack in Kebbi school

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 25 female students from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, located in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, November 17, in Birnin Kebbi. He stated that at around 4:00 a.m., a gang of armed bandits, wielding sophisticated weapons and firing sporadically, stormed the school.

Police tactical units deployed at the school engaged the attackers in a gun duel. However, the bandits managed to scale the school fence and abduct 25 students from their hostel to an unknown location.

CSP Abubakar further confirmed that one staff member, Hassan Makuku, was shot dead, while another, Ali Shehu, sustained a gunshot injury to his right hand.

Following the incident, additional police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes were deployed to track the bandits’ movements and comb nearby forests, with the aim of rescuing the abducted students and apprehending the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents across Kebbi State. CSP Abubakar appealed to the public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations to ensure peace and stability.
