PFN Decries Targeted Attacks on Christians, Says Genocide Must Not Be Ignored

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has raised fresh concerns over what it described as the targeted killing, rape, and displacement of Christians across the country, insisting that the pattern of violence amounts to an ongoing Christian genocide.

PFN National President, Bishop Wale Oke, speaking at a dinner marking the fellowship’s 40th anniversary, warned that the organisation would no longer remain silent in the face of persistent attacks on Christian communities. He urged the government to intensify efforts to stop the killings and restore security nationwide.

Oke noted that millions of PFN members continue to pray daily for Nigeria, emphasising that the fellowship’s greatest strength remains its spiritual commitment to the nation’s stability and peace. He added that Pentecostal Christians are present in every ward and local government across the country, contributing positively to national development.

President Bola Tinubu—represented by Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Dr. Daniel Bwala—commended the PFN for its sustained prayers, which he said have helped keep the nation stable. He acknowledged that some communities face challenges because of their faith and expressed regret over the lives lost to violence in parts of the country.

He assured that the administration remains committed to protecting all citizens, calling on Nigerians to continue praying for the nation while the government works to improve security.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, also praised the PFN for serving as a moral and spiritual guide for the country. He said Nigeria has witnessed signs of progress and stability due to the persistent prayers offered by the fellowship over the past four decades.

He encouraged PFN members to continue praying with faith, emphasising that the nation has a bright future when guided by strong moral and spiritual leadership.
