Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the release of all 38 individuals abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area.
The victims, who were taken captive during the assault last week, regained their freedom on Sunday following days of coordinated operations by security agencies.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the breakthrough came after sustained joint efforts involving federal and state security structures. He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered heightened security activities in response to the attacks in both Kwara and Kebbi states, including deploying additional tactical units to reinforce security across Kwara.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency for their contributions to the rescue mission. He also lauded community leaders and residents for their cooperation throughout the period.
Security agencies have yet to release further details regarding the circumstances of the victims’ rescue or whether any suspects were apprehended.
