The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, describing the information as completely false.
In a statement issued by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Nigerians were urged to ignore the viral claims, which he said had no basis in fact. According to the statement, both Gbajabiamila and Muri-Okunola remain firmly in their respective positions.
The Presidency explained that the misleading report was a fabrication being circulated on social media by individuals bent on spreading fake news and creating unnecessary tension within the government. It stressed that there has been no change in the leadership structure at the Presidency.
Reaffirming its position, the statement made it clear that Femi Gbajabiamila continues to serve as Chief of Staff, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola remains the Principal Private Secretary to the President.
The Presidency also cautioned media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing it, noting that the spread of false reports undermines public trust and fuels confusion.
