President Tinubu Departs for Europe Ahead of Abu Dhabi Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu left Lagos on Sunday for a trip to Europe, according to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy. The trip is described as a continuation of “his end-of-year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.”

While the specific European destination was not disclosed, SaharaReporters noted that previous trips to Paris were often linked to medical visits. The statement confirmed that Tinubu has been invited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AlNahyan, President of the UAE, to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit in January.

ADSW 2026 is a weeklong event bringing together leaders from government, business, and society to advance sustainable development. This year’s theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” aims to connect innovation, finance, and people in shaping the next era of global progress. The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
