Salah Accuses Liverpool of Turning Against Him as Relationship With Slot Collapses

Mohamed Salah has claimed he feels “thrown under the bus” at Liverpool, revealing that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot has completely broken down. The Egyptian forward spoke out after being left on the bench again during Liverpool’s 3–3 draw with Leeds United, marking the third straight match he has started as an unused substitute.

In a rare and emotional interview, Salah suggested he was being made a scapegoat for the club’s current struggles. He said his once-positive relationship with the manager had suddenly disappeared, leaving him confused and feeling unwanted at the club.

Salah described the situation as unacceptable, insisting he had earned his place in the squad through years of service and consistent performances. His comments stunned many, as he hardly speaks to the media in such a direct manner.

The 33-year-old also admitted uncertainty about his long-term future at Anfield, despite signing a two-year contract extension earlier this year. With the Africa Cup of Nations approaching, doubts now surround whether he will return from international duty as a Liverpool player.

Despite helping Liverpool win the Premier League title last season under Slot with 29 goals, Salah has struggled this term, managing just four league goals in 13 appearances. Interest from Saudi Arabia continues to grow, with Al-Hilal reportedly monitoring his situation, while Liverpool are said to be open to discussing his future.

Responding to the situation, Slot defended his decision to leave Salah out against Leeds, explaining that the team needed better control of the game at a crucial stage. He maintained that Salah remains a top professional despite the growing speculation.

Salah remains one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, ranking third on the club’s all-time scoring list with 250 goals in 420 appearances. However, unless tensions ease quickly, his upcoming AFCON duty could signal the beginning of an exit that once seemed unthinkable.
