The governor received his APC membership card on Friday in Jos from the state party chairman, Rufus Bature, in the presence of party leaders and supporters.
Speaking at the event, Mutfwang explained that his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was driven by what he described as the overall interest and future of Plateau State. He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive despite the change in political affiliation.
Describing the move as a “journey of faith,” the governor urged Plateau citizens to stay united and patient, saying time would reveal the benefits of the decision. He encouraged those who feel uncertain or fearful to remain calm, insisting that the new political direction was taken with good intentions.
Mutfwang also expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him with a platform to grow politically, noting that his years in the party were an important part of his journey.
The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he called his genuine concern and affection for Plateau State, and pledged his support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
He concluded by promising that the defection would further motivate him to deliver stronger, people-focused leadership to the state.
