Spiritual Leader Visits Nnamdi Kanu, Calls for His Immediate Release

Kohen Daniel Sunday Onuoha, Spiritual Leader of the Peace of Yahweh Synagogue and Founder of Eastern Judaism, paid a solidarity visit on Saturday to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Sokoto Correctional Facility. Onuoha was accompanied by his wife and members of the Jewish community from the old Eastern Region.

In a statement personally signed by him, Onuoha described the visit as a demonstration of unwavering spiritual and moral support from his congregation and other Jewish groups. He urged the global community, legal experts, and human rights organizations to critically review the legality of Kanu’s detention, which he argued was based on a repealed law and questionable legal grounds.

Onuoha stressed that Kanu is not a terrorist and that IPOB is not a terrorist organization. He argued that Kanu’s only “offense” was peacefully advocating for self-determination and exposing alleged atrocities, noting that verbal expressions or broadcasts without evidence of violent acts cannot justify his incarceration.

The spiritual leader called for Kanu’s immediate and unconditional release in the interest of justice, emphasizing that global awareness and intervention are crucial. He also extended greetings to former US President Donald Trump, commending efforts to protect Christians in Nigeria, and called on international actors to address the marginalization and oppression faced by Biafrans.

Onuoha concluded by urging Biafrans, freedom advocates, Jews, and human rights defenders to remain steadfast, peaceful, and resilient, affirming that justice and the eventual release of Nnamdi Kanu are inevitable.
