Kaduna Police Commissioner Visits Kurmin Wali Church After Terrorist Abduction Amid Controversy

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, visited one of the churches in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru LGA, where armed terrorists reportedly abducted worshippers, sparking fear and mourning in the community. Sources told SaharaReporters that the commissioner instructed all present to switch off phones and banned photography or video recording during the visit.

Video footage obtained shows the commissioner surrounded by heavily armed officers as he interacted with victims, including a man with head injuries who escaped with his daughter. The victim recounted being forced to march into the bush alongside other kidnapped persons, suffering beatings before fleeing to safety.

Residents expressed anger over repeated attacks on Southern Kaduna communities, criticizing security agencies’ failure to protect them. Many questioned why the commissioner restricted documentation during the visit, calling it an attempt to suppress evidence. Activists and village heads confirmed the abduction, contradicting earlier government denials.

According to CAN’s Northern States chairman, Rev. John Hayab, 172 worshippers were abducted, with 163 still in captivity. Families remain anxious as no official confirmation has been given regarding rescue efforts or negotiations.
