Kaduna Governor Vows Rescue of Kurmin Wali Abductees, Promises Long-Term Security Measures

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reassured residents of Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area that all persons abducted during Sunday’s attack will be rescued and safely reunited with their families.

The Governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while leading a delegation of senior government officials and security chiefs to the community to console residents. He said the state government had been working round the clock with security agencies—including the military, DSS, police, and the Office of the National Security Adviser—to ensure the swift recovery of the abducted persons.

“Whether it is one person or 100 people, it is the responsibility of the Kaduna State Government to protect the lives and property of its people,” Sani stated, condemning attempts to politicise the incident and urging focus on human life and dignity rather than statistics. He also confirmed that the state would cover medical expenses for those injured during the attack.

Highlighting long-term security plans, Governor Sani revealed intentions to liaise with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), to establish a military base in Kurmin Wali, citing the village’s proximity to banditry-prone areas. He further promised the construction of an access road linking Kurmin Wali to the main highway to enhance mobility and security response, as well as a Primary Healthcare Centre for the community.

In his address, Agwam Kufana, Chief Dauda Titus, confirmed receiving a distress call about the attack while in church on Sunday. He appealed for urgent road construction and provision of basic amenities, noting that poor road conditions now prolong travel from 10 minutes to over 30 minutes.

The National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Engr. Emmanuel Tabara, commended Governor Sani for personally visiting Kurmin Wali, calling it an example of pragmatic leadership. He assured the government of the community’s support, dismissing suggestions that the incident could be politicised, and prayed for the Governor’s protection and success.

Governor Sani reiterated that the administration protects lives irrespective of religion or ethnicity, emphasizing inclusivity as a cornerstone of governance in Kaduna State.
