House Minority Flags Tampering in Newly Gazetted Tax Laws

The Minority Caucus in Nigeria’s House of Representatives has raised concerns over discrepancies between tax laws passed by the National Assembly and the versions officially gazetted after President Bola Tinubu’s approval.

According to the caucus, parts of the newly published tax laws were altered without proper legislative authority. The findings were detailed in an interim report by the Minority Caucus Ad-hoc Committee on Tax Laws, which was set up to investigate claims of inconsistencies between the enacted Acts and the gazetted copies.

The committee’s preliminary review revealed that certain sections of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025, were modified, confirming fears that the official gazette did not fully reflect the laws passed by lawmakers. This revelation has sparked renewed calls for clarity and accountability in the legislative process.
