A group operating under the name Edo Peoples Advocacy has accused the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force of obstructing justice in an ongoing criminal investigation involving two suspects.
At a press conference in Abuja, the group alleged that the suspects, currently in STS custody, are using false identities in an attempt to evade justice. According to the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Aigbogun Emmanuel, they are presenting themselves as Frank Osasodion and Etiosa Osasodion, while records allegedly indicate that one is a prison escapee and the other is under investigation for murder.
The group linked the alleged escape to the #EndSARS unrest in 2020, when correctional facilities in Edo State were attacked. It expressed concern over the transfer of the suspects to Abuja, suggesting that the move could complicate investigations originally initiated in Edo State.
Court documents and medical reports were cited to support the claims, including references to a 2018 homicide in Ahor community. The group called on the Inspector-General of Police to ensure a transparent verification of the suspects’ true identities and to uphold due process, accountability, and justice in the handling of the case.
