The Acting Head of Public Affairs of the West African Examinations Council, Moyosola F. Adesina, has announced that the Administrative and Finance Committee of the Council has reaffirmed its strong confidence in the leadership of the Nigeria National Office under the Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut.
The declaration followed the Committee’s 240th Meeting held in Ibadan, where members reviewed the operations of the Council amid ongoing union engagements and commended the management for sustaining stability across the organisation.
According to the statement signed by Adesina on Wednesday in Lagos, the Committee praised Dr. Dangut and his management team for their exemplary leadership, operational efficiency, and institutional discipline, particularly in ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2026.
The Committee, regarded as WAEC’s highest advisory body on administrative and financial matters in Nigeria, noted that despite recent union-related concerns, the Nigeria National Office has continued to demonstrate professionalism, strategic coordination, and commitment to the Council’s core mandate.
It further observed that Management’s approach to administrative responsibilities and staff engagement reflected a high level of institutional maturity and responsiveness capable of sustaining confidence among stakeholders nationwide.
In what observers described as a major endorsement of the current administration, the Committee passed a formal vote of confidence in Dr. Dangut and his team, reaffirming its support for the leadership and expressing confidence in its ability to continue advancing the Council’s mandate effectively.
The Committee also cautioned against actions that could undermine WAEC’s institutional reputation and integrity, while reassuring candidates, parents, ministries of education, and other stakeholders that the Council’s operations across the country remain stable, seamless, and fully on course.
It reiterated WAEC’s commitment to transparency, staff welfare, and the promotion of a peaceful and productive working environment.
