Nigeria Will Migrate To 5G Network Soon –EVC NCC

THE Executives Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC)  has said that all the negative comments against the planned migration of the Telecom Company to 5G is untrue and Nigeria will be on 5G Network when the time comes.
Speaking at the Capacity Building Workshop for the  Media held at Grand Central Hotel on Tuesday said he  understand that the theme of this workshop is “5G Deployment and the Next Level of Nigeria’s Development.’’ such a theme is most apt at a time when the Commission is on full gear to drive the implementation of the deployment of 5G, otherwise called the Fifth Generation Network, in the Country.
He said following the approval of the Federal Government on September 8, 2021. As we progress in our journey of 5G deployment, the media has a critical role in the process by ensuring proper and adequate reportage of the programmes and activities of the Commission as it unfolds the 5G plan.
From the programme, I can glean that the workshop will feature topics around 5G to equip you with greater insights and knowledge in order to improve your overall understanding of this very important new technology, its usage, opportunities and benefits it offers for the overall development of our socio-economic life.”
The EVC who was represented by Mr Ikechukwu Adinde and Engineer Bako Wakili said Nigeria’s promising 5G Plan has the objectives of ensuring efficient assignment of spectrum for 5G deployment, creating an enabling environment for investment in the telecom industry, ensuring effective deployment of 5G to cover major urban cities by 2025, among others.
He said in line with the objectives of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) 2020-2025 for a Digital Nigeria, and the positioning of Nigeria as an early adopter of digital technology in the growing global digital economy, the successful and timely deployment of 5G is crucial.
 “In view of its characteristics such as enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low latency and speed, 5G is expected to facilitate several emerging technologies, including Internet of Things, Machine-to-Machine communication, among others.
These and more of the many features and benefits of the new technology will be discussed at this workshop
 It is expected that the roll-out of the 5G will be carried out in phases beginning with major cities in the country where there is need for high-quality broadband. You will recall that, the Commission commenced the process for the auction of the 5G spectrum in the last quarter of the year and had, since then, carried out the following activities with the following important timelines:October 7, 2021, “
Professor Dambatta further reveal that the Commission had exposed the Draft Information Memorandum (IM) on the auction of the 5G spectrum on its website  and issued a public notice in major channels, including print, electronic and broadcast media. Comments on the draft IM were received by the Commission up until October 28, 2021.
He said NCC as a responsive regulator, and following concerns expressed by industry stakeholders and potential bidders for the 5G Spectrum, including MTN, about the possibility of meeting the deadline in light of the flight disruptions, and relying on the provision of the IM,
the Commission announced an extension of the deadline from Wednesday, November 24, 2021 to Monday, November 29, 2021.On December 1, 2021,
