Our Husbands Are In Detention For Eleven Months, Says Wives Of Apprehended Kano Bureau De Change Operators

WIVES of 45  Kano Bureau De change Operators have expressed concerned on the reason behind the incaceration  of their husbands by the Security Agencies in the Country for good Eleven Months without Prosecuting them in a Court of Competent jurisdiction.

Making the disclosure during an interaction with the Journalists in Kano on Monday Spokesperson of the group Hajiya Halima Jibrin said the tomenting condition with which their continued  detention is causing to their families leaves  much to be desired.
” We are faced with numerous challenges as a result of the deliberate detention of our husbands and no single time was given to us to see or chat with them over the phone since their apprehension by the State operatives.
Infact even their association at the Bureau De -change could not be allowed to see them either,  talkless of their legal representatives  who saw them only once at the defence intelligence office “
About 50 of the Women and their Multiple Children, were paraded before the journalists and said they even  staged a peaceful demonstration to the Kano Emir’s Palace, last Week to solicit the intervention of the Monarch to free their husbands.
Trovan News  learnt that a joint operatives of the Army, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Department of State Services, (DSS), and other Security intelligence in a Nationwide crackdown on Operators of the Open Foreign Exchange Market in April, 2021 arrested several persons in Kano and the suspects in question also formed part of  the lists of those the State is suspicious of .
Spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu,  had told journalists in Abuja  that the affected operators were arrested in connection with the alleged  funding of terrorists in the Country.
However, the Wive  claimed their husbands were innocent of all the allegations  leveled against them.
Spokesperson of the aggrieved Women, Halima Jibrin, told journalists that the entire families of the 45 persons are wallowing in depression for the  past 11 Months since the arrest of their husbands.
“We are devastated, we are weak and depressed since our husbands have been arrested by the Security operatives.
 Some of the Wives and aged Parents of these men are hospitalised for hypertension. Majority of them cannot even  join us at this Press Conference  because they are sick. Our Children cannot go to School because the breadwinners are no where to be found.
“We have tried all efforts to know there whereabout, alive or dead, sick or well, but to no avail.
We visited the DSS office, they said our husbands are not with them and we also tried to take legal action, lawyers said the Court cannot hear the Case.
 We are confused and that is why we brought our case before the Media been the last hope of the common man . Halima avvered .”
On his part,  Chairman of Bureau de Change Association in Kano, Yusuf Nabahani, also lamented that the union had tried their best to secure the  release of their members but their  efforts never yielded any positive  result.
Yusuf,  insisted that only 23 members of the association  were arrested by Security operatives,
He  doubted the claim of the Federal Government on their involvement in funding insurgency.
 He urged the Federal government to do justice by charging them to Court or release the innocent persons for the sake of their families
