“Former Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic terrorist bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri on 24th December, 2025, which led to the loss of several innocent lives and left many others injured.
He extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prays for the quick recovery of all those injured. He described the attack as a cowardly act against innocent worshippers and a painful reminder of the threat of terrorism.
DCP Kyari urged the Government to take decisive and coordinated action against the terrorists to prevent a recurrence. He recalled that the bold and intelligence-driven operations of the Police IRT in 2018 successfully ended Boko Haram suicide bombings for seven years, until this unfortunate incident.
According to him, only firm action, strong intelligence, and unwavering resolve can protect innocent lives and restore lasting peace.
