ADC Rep Warns Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola, Others of Possible Expulsion

Leke Abejide, the member representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has issued a strong warning to prominent figures in the opposition coalition — including Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi — saying they risk being kicked out of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Abejide insisted that contrary to claims, the Atiku-backed coalition does not control the ADC, promising to prove his point “in a few days.”

The opposition bloc had recently adopted the ADC as its official political platform, appointing former Senate President David Mark as Interim National Chairman and ex-Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary. There is already speculation that Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi could be eyeing the party’s presidential ticket.

But Abejide dismissed their hold on the party, pointing to ADC’s constitution, which requires a person to have spent at least two years in the party before holding a national office.

Speaking on the Mic On podcast, the Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise also addressed an ongoing leadership tussle in Kogi ADC, accusing figures like Dino Melaye and former senator Tunde Ogbeha of backing the crisis.

“Kingsley Ogah and Adaji are not in the National Working Committee. According to our constitution, suspensions must come from the ward level — the ward chairman and executives — not from any self-styled state committee,” he said.

He added pointedly: “Give me a few days. If I’m the national leader of ADC, you’ll know. We’ll send them — Atiku, David Mark, Aregbesola, Amaechi, Peter Obi — back to where they came from. It’s a lie that they’ve taken over the party. There’s no such thing as an interim leader in our constitution.”
