The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be receiving misleading advice from those around him, particularly regarding the true state of Nigeria’s security situation.
Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service themed “The Eve of Glory”, Pastor Adeboye referenced a recent presidential statement claiming that displaced persons had returned to their homes and that the security situation had improved nationwide.
“I almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President. When I heard him say all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said the person who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him,” he said.
The cleric, who described President Tinubu as his “in-law,” cautioned that several people around the President might not be telling him the truth about the realities Nigerians are facing daily.
Adeboye cited reports of continuing violence, including the killing of a traditional ruler in Kwara or Kogi State, as evidence that insecurity remains a serious challenge.
He, however, emphasized that his concern was not to apportion blame but to seek lasting solutions.
“Our President inherited this problem. It started before him. I am an applied mathematician; I am only interested in getting the problem solved,” he noted.
‘Give Service Chiefs 100 Days or Resign’
Pastor Adeboye urged President Tinubu to engage diplomatically with U.S. President Donald Trump — who recently designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” — and to request a 100-day grace period to demonstrate progress.
“Call our service chiefs — fortunately, they are new — and tell them to perform within three months or resign,” he advised.
He added that Nigerians have prayed long enough for peace and that their faith demands visible results. Citing Newton’s Law of Motion, Adeboye said,
“A body will remain at rest unless compelled by an external force. Whatever method God wants to use, there will be peace in Nigeria again.”
‘I Speak With Restraint Under Authority’
Explaining why he rarely makes public political comments, the respected cleric said his restraint stems from his role under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
“I have discovered in the Bible that a man not under authority cannot cast out a demon,” he said, stressing his commitment to proper spiritual order.
Pastor Adeboye’s remarks come amid growing public debate over the government’s handling of security challenges and reports of continued killings across several states.
His call for urgency adds to rising pressure on the administration to deliver results as Nigerians — weary of violence — hope for a decisive turnaround in the country’s fight against terrorism and banditry.
