Aisha Yesufu Slams DSS Over Dismissal of 115 Officers, Calls Agency “Symbol of Incompetence”

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has strongly criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) following the dismissal of 115 of its officers. The outspoken activist described the secret police as an organization that embodies incompetence and failure.

In a post shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Yesufu didn’t hold back her words. “If incompetence needed an organization to describe it, this DSS will fit aptly,” she wrote, expressing her frustration at what she perceives as the agency’s consistent inefficiency.

Her reaction came shortly after the DSS released a statement warning Nigerians to be cautious of the dismissed officers, some of whom were reportedly still parading themselves as active operatives. The agency advised citizens to avoid any form of “official dealing” with the individuals involved, adding that their names had been published on the DSS website for public verification.

While the DSS claimed the move was to protect Nigerians from fraud, Aisha Yesufu’s reaction highlights growing public distrust toward the agency. Many citizens echoed her sentiments online, questioning the DSS’s transparency and its role in maintaining public confidence amid recurring controversies.
