Senate President Godswill Akpabio don come out praise late former President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him a true Nigerian patriot who led with discipline, honesty, and selflessness.
During a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in Buhari’s honour at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Akpabio no mince words. He say the former leader never stole public money, and even his worst critics know say Buhari no dey chop government money anyhow.
“President Buhari believed that discipline dey important, say integrity still matter for leadership. Even when e dey lonely for power, e always hold onto principle,” Akpabio talk.
According to am, Buhari’s time in office no be about showoff or big man lifestyle. Instead, the man carry Nigeria for head like tomorrow no dey, always putting duty before comfort.
“Make we talk true,” Akpabio continue, “Buhari tough well-well. He be soldier wey no dey shake when wahala land. He no dey dodge responsibility. Above all, he no be man wey go sell Nigeria for small change.”
Akpabio sabi wetin he dey talk — after all, he serve as minister under Buhari. He say even people wey no like Buhari still respect am because of how straight the man be.
“That his toughness no come from pride,” he add. “Na because of the love wey him get for this country. For Buhari mind, Nigeria fit get wahala, but na still our own and we must fight for am.”
Whether Buhari wear military uniform or agbada, Akpabio say one thing never change — his belief in Nigeria.
“The man believe say this country dey worth fighting for — and him show am with action, not just talk. He no do gra-gra, but he stand strong till the very end.”
Akpabio’s words come as many Nigerians, both for government and for street, begin reflect on Buhari’s legacy. Whether you like am or no like am, everybody sabi say the man no dey carry eye see corruption.
