The people of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State are mourning the passing of their traditional ruler, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, who died on Friday at the age of 82.
In a statement on Saturday, his family described the late monarch as a beacon of “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.” They noted that his contributions would remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before becoming a senior civil servant. He also served as the Sole Administrator of the defunct Ifesowapo Local Government.
He ascended the throne in 2009, becoming the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, and quickly earned respect for his dedication to unity, community development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.
In academia, he left a notable mark as the Chancellor of Ekiti State University, where he championed initiatives to improve education standards and expand opportunities for local students.
The family said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
