The 2025 edition of the Anambra School Sports Festival for primary and secondary Schools will begin on March 19 with 11 sporting events.
Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of Anambra Sports Development Commission, said this at the inauguration of a 19-man Main Organising Committee of the event on Friday in Awka.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Athletics, Ncho, a traditional sport, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Scrabble, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Volleyball, will feature at the event.
He called on members of the committee to work towards a successful competition.
Onyedum who is the chairman of the MOC appreciated the committee members, various schools and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the previous editions.
NAN reports that the competition would commence at the Local Government Areas between May 7 and May 9, while the zonal eliminations and State finals would hold between June 11, 13, 17 and 20.
The MOC said registration had commenced and would end on March 14.
Members of the MOC are Emeka Obidimma (Director of Sports), Olu Sule, Jude Nwafor, Anthonia Uwa, Faith Okwenna, John Oforah, Rev. Fr. Calistus Nworgu (rep. Mission Schools) and Onwuka Dibian (Rep. Public schools Principals).
Others are Ikeadi Udeaja (Rep. Education Ministry).Ralph Okafor, Anthonia Okoye, Arekameh Nuwanu, Ikemefuna Asika Chidimma Nwankwo, Ken. Okoli and Osita Obijiofor who will serve as Secretary.
