The All Progressives Congress (APC) is already showing dominance in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election in Kaduna State, as early results trickle in from polling units.
At Narayi/Shagari Road Polling Unit in Chikun LGA, APC secured 61 votes, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailing with 26. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) followed with 10 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) managed 9.
This by-election, caused by vacancies from resignations or deaths of lawmakers, is part of a wider exercise taking place across Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, Ogun, Oyo, Adamawa, Kano, Kogi, Niger, Taraba, and Zamfara States.
Meanwhile, security operatives made a shocking bust in Kaduna. A suspected vote buyer, Shehu Aliyu Patangi, was arrested with a staggering ₦25,963,000 cash in the early hours of Saturday. He was caught at a hotel along Turunku Road by a joint team of the Nigeria Police and DSS.
The Kaduna Police Command revealed that the suspect admitted the money was meant to induce voters. The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has since warned that anyone caught engaging in vote buying, thuggery, or any act to compromise the election will face the full wrath of the law.
