Armed bandits attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least ten residents and destroying several homes. The attack happened around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when about 200 gunmen reportedly stormed the villages, firing sporadically and causing panic as residents fled for safety.
A community leader confirmed that many houses were set ablaze and about ten people were killed. Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved from house to house, forcing villagers to abandon their homes. Some residents were caught while trying to escape, while others were killed inside their houses.
Another resident, Idris Mohammed, said several bodies were seen at the palace of the Emir of Woro, Alhaji Saliu Bio Umar. The Kwara State Government confirmed the incident through a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, condemning the attack and expressing condolences to the affected families.
