Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected claims that he has stepped aside for Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, calling the reports false and misleading.
Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 election, was said in some reports to have endorsed a one-term presidency for Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, for regional balance.
His media adviser, Paul Ibe, dismissed the claims as fake news. On Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the reports on his verified X account, writing: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
The development comes amid reports that Peter Obi is now planning to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
