Tension has gripped Zonkwa town in Southern Kaduna following a deadly attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters by armed bandits on Friday evening.
According to local residents, the attackers stormed the station unexpectedly, killing two police officers in the process. The tragic incident occurred in Zonkwa, the administrative headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Security has since been tightened in the area as troops from Operation Safe Haven have arrived to restore calm and prevent further violence.
The incident adds to the growing insecurity in Kaduna State, where several communities have suffered repeated assaults from armed groups in recent months.
