Bayelsa Mourns as Police Nab Cultists Behind Constable’s Killing

Tears flowed in Yenagoa on Friday as the Bayelsa State Police Command laid to rest Constable Oboh Goodluck, who was brutally murdered by suspected cultists in Amarata community on August 19. The late officer was attacked on his way to work in the OMPADEC area, a killing that sent shockwaves across the state.

At the funeral rites, Commissioner of Police Francis Idu announced that six suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder. He further assured that other key members of the gang would soon be brought to justice, warning criminals to steer clear of attacking police personnel or face dire consequences.

The police chief consoled the grieving family, vowing that the command would not rest until those responsible were punished. He also reassured officers and men of the force that their safety and dignity would always be defended by the leadership of the Nigerian Police.

In a symbolic move, CP Idu disclosed plans to seek Governor Douye Diri’s approval to convert the site of Goodluck’s killing into a monument — a lasting reminder of his service and sacrifice.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Comrade Kwokwo Robert expressed gratitude to the police for their support during the burial. He however pressed for justice, stressing that the killers of Constable Goodluck must not escape accountability.
