FOLLOWING the recent flood disaster that ravaged Mainok Community of Kaga Local Government Area, Borno North Senator, Mohammed Tahir Monguno and Member representing Kaga/Magumeri/Gubio federal constituency, Hon. Usman Zannah among other concerned stakeholders have donated food and non-food items to the victims.
They also donated cash amounting to N6.2 million to complement efforts of the Borno State Government in managing the situation.
This was disclosed by Hon. Zannah who is also the Chairman House Committee on the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in an interview with our Correspondent in Maiduguri.
His words: “In response to the devastating floods in Mainok recently, the humanitarian Senator and Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Mohammed Tahir Monguno of Borno North, my humble self Usman Zannah, Mustapha Alibe, representing Kaga in the Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Mustapha Bukar Daima and former Chairman of Kaga LGA have stepped up to provide urgent relief.
The contribution of N6.2 million, consists of N3 million from Senator Monguno, N2 million from myself, N1 million from Member representing Kaga at the State Assembly, Mustapha Alibe, while N200,000 came in from Hon. Bukar Daima former Caretaker Chairman of Kaga, this is in addition to distribution of food and non- food items like mats and blankets, buckets, too numerous to mention.
“I want to specifically appreciate the federal government government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice- President, Senator Kashim Shettima for their support always.
“I also appreciate Governor Babagana Zulum for sending high level delegation headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Bukar Tijjani to ascertain the level of flood damage in Mainok”. Zannah said.
In a related development, Hon. Zannah has distributed weedicides to genuine farmers across the Constituency.
The gesture is to enhance food security and make the beneficiaries economically self reliant.
The items were handed over to the three local government Chairmen of the constituency, where they all acknowledged receipt and show appreciation, even as the gesture were distributed fairly to the targeted beneficiaries judiciously.
