IN a bid to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in project development, the Borno State Government has launched a reformed Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework.
The new framework, unveiled by Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. Mustapha Malumbe, at a consultative meeting in Maiduguri on Monday, is designed to accelerate the state’s 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation.
According to Malumbe, “the revamped framework will facilitate seamless progress tracking, identify areas for improvement, and inform data-driven decision making, ensuring better project delivery and sustainable development in the state”.
The reform he added, is a collaborative effort between the Borno State Agency for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Responses, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Borno Department of Monitoring and Evaluation as well as Borno State University, which is also supported by UNICEF.
Mubaraq Yusuf, Director of My IT Consult Limited, in his speech, explained that the program’s objectives include conducting a readiness assessment to strengthen Borno State’s M&E system.
He added that the consultative workshop aimed to present findings, gather stakeholders feedback, and build support for implementation.
Yusuf emphasized that a robust M&E framework is crucial for effective project delivery, enabling performance tracking, coordination between government and development partners, and impact assessment.
“With the new M&E framework in place, citizens can expect tangible improvements in project delivery and sustainable development.
“Resources will be utilized efficiently, and projects will have a lasting impact on citizens’ lives, noting that the future of Borno State looks brighter than ever.
“The launch of the new M&E framework is a significant step towards achieving sustainable development in Borno State, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens”. Yusuf explained.
