A group mostly Youths and women under the auspices of Concerned Southern Borno Citizens (CSBCs) has called on President Bola Tinubu, the ruling All Progress Congress (APC), and the Senate to reverse their decision on the recent and dramatic removal of Senator Mohammed Ndume as the Chief Whip of the Senate.

The group which consists of clubs and Association in Borno State were at the NUJ Press Centre, Maiduguri on Tuesday for a solidarity to Senator Ndume.

Briefing Journalists, the National Chairman of the CSBCs and Spokesman of the group, Comrade Bulama Sawa said: ” we are calling on the APC National Working Committee to reconsider its decision which led to the removal of our Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume as Chief Whip, in addition for asking him (Ndume) to withdraw his APC membership.”

Recall that Senator Ndume has raised alarm on Arise TV in an interview on July 12, 2024, where he said ‘Hunger and Insecurity’ have dominated the nation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a situation that did not go down well to the leadership of the APC and the Senate Caucus, which led to Ndume’s removal as Chief Whip. Ndume also relinquished his position as Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation, and has since been replaced by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Borno North).

The group who praises President Tinubu for recognizing Senator Ndume’s capacity and worth by appointing him as Majority Chief Whip said that, Senator Ndume has done much good for society especially the people of Southern Borno and the state in general, this is in addition of mentoring thousands of youths and sponsoring their education.

According to the youth groups, Ndume’s contributions to the state and nation cannot be ignored, even as they condemned the action taken against Ndume and by extension the people of Southern Borno Senatorial District.

“We condemn the APC’s decision in strong terms. Ndume has been a shining light in the darkness of Nigerian politics, and we also here to pass a vote of confidence in Ndume as our Senator.

“We appeal to President Tinubu to listen to the voice of reason and not allow political vendetta to destroy the APC, because, the action taken against Senator Ndume is not just offensive to him personally, but it also serves as a warning to all who dare to speak the truth, especially a Lawmaker at the National Assembly. Sawa stated.
