A bridge collapsed at an expressway construction site in South Korea on Tuesday, killing two people and injuring five, authorities said.
Local media showed dramatic footage of a section of the bridge falling, creating a huge cloud of smoke.
According to the National Fire Agency, two people died, four were seriously injured, and one had a minor injury. Officials are still searching for three people trapped under the debris
An interior ministry official told AFP that the injured were being taken to hospitals. The collapse happened at around 9:50 a.m. in Cheonan, about 82 kilometers (51 miles) south of Seoul.
Acting President Choi Sang-mok has ordered authorities to use all available resources for the rescue effort. Government data shows that over 8,000 work-related deaths occurred in South Korea between 2020 and 2023.
