Buba Galadima Alleges Plot to Rig 2027 Elections, Vows NNPP Will Resist

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused the Federal Government of secretly plotting to rig the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Galadima warned that the NNPP will strongly resist any such attempt and “teach the government a lesson” during the polls.

According to him, the signs of manipulation are already clear. “They go to governors and tell them to decamp. If you don’t decamp, they threaten to take power from you—not that they will allow you to be voted out. That’s what they do, and they don’t understand,” he said.

Galadima also lamented the weakness of Nigeria’s political class, claiming the government escapes accountability because “there are no real politicians in the country.” He described many players in Nigerian politics as opportunists, adding that despite decades of political struggle, he has never been elected into office because he is considered a “bad politician” by Nigeria’s flawed standards.

Turning to the recent by-elections held across 13 states, the NNPP chieftain accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of breaching constitutional provisions. He argued that the commission is bound by law to conduct by-elections within three months of a vacancy, yet some were conducted almost two years later.

“If candidates go to court to challenge them, they could be declared null and void because that is what the constitution says,” Galadima warned.
