Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy has revealed that despite his global success and international lifestyle, he feels more at peace and truly free living in Nigeria than in the United States.
The “City Boys” crooner made this known during his first-ever appearance on Twitch with streamer PlaqueBoyMax, where he spoke candidly about the differences between life in Nigeria and America.
According to Burna, while many see the U.S. as the land of opportunities and freedom, he believes real freedom can only be found at home. “The real meaning of freedom exists in my country,” he said. “I can’t ever be completely free here. Guys end up in jail here in America.”
He explained that beyond the glitz and glamour, living abroad often comes with invisible restrictions that limit how one expresses themselves. In contrast, being in Nigeria gives him a deeper connection to his roots, culture, and sense of belonging.
