A Nigerian businesswoman has been arrested in Lagos following the death of her 17-year-old salesgirl. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ibekwe Ezinne Mary, is accused of fatally injuring Ihechidere Favour Uka, who worked at her cosmetics shop.
According to information shared by the victim’s family, the incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, January 27, at about 6:30 pm. The deceased’s brother, Destiny Nnasco, alleged that the situation escalated after an altercation between the employer and the teenager.
In a Facebook post, he claimed that the suspect admitted in police custody that she slapped the girl twice after she arrived late to carry out an errand. The confrontation allegedly turned physical, leading to severe injuries that resulted in the teenager’s death.
Police authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and the suspect remains in custody.
